Most smokers are not sincere with their self, they are familiar with what they need to do to curb or completely stop the habit but rather they are looking out for one magical system or the other that they can use and wake up to se that they no longer crave for the cigarette stick.

But it not usually the case. There is no real magical system to quitting smoking and the only magical solution that works anyday, anytime, anywhere is your absolute decision to give up smoking right now. How then do you give up smoking?

I am going to give you just three ways to give up smoking in this feature and the others in another feature article.

1. Making Up Your Mind To.

Smoking as we all know is very addictive but that not a core reason why we can not quit. Our decisions on this issue matters a lot. You have to be absolutely sure you want to quit. It is not enough to say you want to quit but actually deciding to quit. How you do this is very simple but it may not be convenient for you.

Simply start immediately after you read this article to postpone any form of smoking till tomorrow. Remove that cigarette pack lying idle on your table, get rid of the lighters and make affirm decision not to smoke again today. Consciously avoid smoking for now until you are able to give yourself about twenty reason why you must quit written neatly on a pad. If you can not get this done now forget it you may not quit now.

What you are doing now is to take the bull by the horn and help yourself. This is decision making and the very first step in your quest to fight addiction.

2. Sticking To Your Decision.

Successful men quickly make decisions and if they are to change their minds it usually takes a long time for them to do so. To be successful in giving up smoking you have to make a one time decision to do it and stick to it no matter what.
It may be easier said than done but it can be done.
You will need boosters that will help you stick to your decision to give up the habit.

a. Make sure you have at the back of your head what you will enjoy if you quit smoking. Such as improving your health, making your family and loved ones happier, improving your relationships, saving money and more importantly extending your life span.et.c

b. Make sure at every point in time you are conscious of what you are thinking. What I am saying is that condition your thought pattern. Avoid having your mind wandering about and not having a job to do.

c. Keep yourself busy. There is always something to be done and if you feel like relaxing don’t go for relaxations that will encourage you to smoke such as hanging out with your smoker friends, taking alcoholic beverages or doing things that will bring your mind back to smoking.

3. Declaring It.

You are only entitled to what you want happen in your life if you declare it as often as possible. Let your subconscious mind know that you are giving up the habit for the twenty reasons you wrote earlier. Review everyday just as you review your plans. Read it aloud as often as you can, infact whenever you are idle keep yourself busy going through those reasons of yours and if possible add to it.
But don’t stop speaking it. Keep speaking it and keep speaking it, don’t stop.

Being resolute about your decision to give up smoking will go a long way to making you a better and a more principled and disciplined person.
